The FWC is led by lobbyists, developers, and major campaign donors — individuals whose interests directly conflict with conservation and public safety.

The FWC’s lack of qualification and oversight has led to serious consequences. Demand further investigation into the 2022 boat crash in Biscayne Bay that killed 17-year-old Lucy Fernandez and left Katy Puig with a life-altering traumatic brain injury.
HJR1625 is a joint resolution proposing an amendment to Section 9 of Article IV of the State Constitution to revise appointments to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
It was blocked by Rep. Adam Botana in the 2025 Legislative Session. He is the Chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, but also sits on FWC’s Boating Council and owns a boat rental business.
We will propose another amendment in 2026 with much of the same language.

During the FWC meeting in Ocala, we put 3 billboards up right around the meeting location, so that all attendees of the 2-day meeting would see them. It was a big meeting, with people driving in from all over the state to debate the bear hunt. The Commissioners were there, too.
We exceeded our goal by a LOT, but we left donations open in case we get another good idea for an awareness campaign or protest.
